Misha Collins

Dearest, My four-year-old is way more spiritually advanced than me. Watch this and you will see what I mean.  When I was a kid, most of my wishes were kid-wishes: I’d wish for infinity wishes or the ability to fly under my own power. But I also remember wishing for a warm, dry place to sleep. Though we had a great childhood full of adventures and our mom loved us fiercely, sometimes our family simply didn’t have the money to put a roof over our heads and from time to time we found ourselves homeless and sleeping in a tent.  I'm an adult with kids of my own now, but I still remember what it's like to wish for a place...

Thankful

It’s that time of year, where we come together as families and try, and midst all the food and, sometimes passive aggressive comments and avoidance of political talk, we remember to be thankful. Yes, the first thanksgiving was a feast for the pilgrims and the Native Americans, and our cultural memory of it is idealized. But the first time Thanksgiving was actually recognized as a national holiday was during the Civil War. In the darkest part of our history, Abraham Lincoln - spurred on by the lobbying of an awesome woman named Sarah Josepha Hale - declared a national day of thanks. The 2018 SPN Ladies Calendar "If I Could Tell You" is Here!

Well, it's here. This is a big day for the Stands family. About six months ago, Jacmel Children's Center reached out to ask for help covering their 2018 expenses. With a growing number of children and a number of those children growing in general (like they do), they were tapped for resources. What could we do to help? The impossible, as it turns out. For the last few years, you've been politely demanding, in all caps, that the ladies of SPN have an equal presence at conventions, in merchandising, on the show... Honestly, y'all are like, really loud. So this year you are getting Wayward Sisters/Daughters, and what we consider the jewel of any merch we have mustered to this...

On the Subject of Fandom and Family

I've never had a family quite like the Supernatural Family. Sure, like all families, we have our disagreements. Our fights. Our weirdoes. We have those we're close to, those we see once a year at family reunions, those whom our parents make us write graduation and wedding invites to even though we don't know them and they don't know us. But despite all that, we have this amazing bond. A bond that allows us to pay back the love and generosity of the cast and crew in spades. Don't believe me? Look at GISHWHES. Look at IMALIVE. Look at AKF. Look at Wayward Daughters. We as a family have created movements to better the world for us and for the...

MISHA COLLINS speaks on Jacmel Children's Center

Interview with Misha Collins About Jacmel Children’s Center @lawyerashley: What is the most rewarding part of seeing a project like this through? What is the hardest? How do you keep from getting overwhelmed? Misha: It's great to see an idea evolve from concept to completion and see the tremendous impact it makes. That sometimes painfully slow evolution is also the hardest part, so I keep from getting overwhelmed by taking satisfaction from knowing that I've put countless hardworking staff and volunteers through the ringer to get our goals accomplished. Schadenfreude is a great stress reliever. @fangirlingjess: Does raising awareness for causes like these become more difficult when there isn't an immediate crisis to respond to? Misha: It does. People are...
